North Scotland
The North Coast 500 is a 516-mile scenic route around the north coast of Scotland, starting and ending at Inverness Castle. Also known as the NC500, the route was launched in 2015, linking many features in the north Highlands of Scotland in one touring route.

North Coast 500
Scotland’s NC500 goes beyond John O’Groats and covers castles, caves, natures reserves and so much more at mainland Britain’s most northerly places. The NC500 starts and finishes in Inverness, taking you through some of Scotland’s most stunning landscapes, including rugged coastlines, dramatic cliffs, and serene lochs. Highlights include the picturesque villages of Ullapool, Durness, and Plockton, as well as the iconic sights of the Old Man of Storr and the Quiraing on the Isle of Skye.
Length and Time
The full NC500 route covers approximately 516km/321 miles. While it can be completed in a few days, to truly savour the breathtaking scenery and unique attractions along the way, we recommend allowing at least 7-10 days for a more relaxed and immersive experience.
